Ecotourism is a form of tourism that involves visiting natural areas—in the remote wilderness or rural environments. According to the definition and principles of ecotourism established by The International Ecotourism Society (TIES) in 1990, ecotourism is “Responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and improves the well-being of local people.” (TIES, 1990). Offering market-linked long-term solutions, ecotourism provides effective economic incentives for conserving and enhancing bio-cultural diversity and helps protect the natural and cultural heritage of our beautiful planet.

Eco Tourism in Geogia –  is one of the most profitable tourism directions in Georgia and at the same time the potential of the country in this regard is significant. In total Georgia is expecting 3.5 million tourists in 2012 Eco-tourists will make up quite a large share of the total number.

As an  Ecotourism destination Georgia has much to offer?

Resorts and mineral springs. The diverse climatic conditions in Georgia give a tremendous potential for tourist resort development. Already there are almost all kinds of mineral waters with more than 2000 springs.

The most widespread type of mineral water is carbonic acid. It belongs to curative mineral waters such as: Borjomi, Nabeglavi and Sairme.

Borjomi sodium carbonate mineral waters are mainly used as a curative drink, for medical baths, inhalation and lavage of stomach and intestine.
